Our Anti-Bullying Work
- 06 January 2012
Here at Merrydale we take the issue of bullying very seriously, and would like to share with you some of the work we have been doing to combat bullying which may be taking place, and more importantly stop it before it starts.
The teachers have continued, through our PSHE work, to highlight the issues which bullied children will face, and the sanctions bullies will face when caught. Throughout all this our main aim has been to get the children to try to put themselves in the place of the bullied child, and through this we hope children who may head along the road to being a bully could perhaps think again.
Our work on anti-bullying is not complete, indeed it has really only just started, and there is a long way to go to achieve all schools aim of a bully free environment, and this is where parents can help. Please take a moment to look at these 3 documents, in particular 'How should your child report bullying' and 'What should your child's teacher do then' as these are crucial to tackling the problem of bullying head on.
We at Merrydale are committed to these documents and the systems laid down in them, and hope that by working together we can achieve our goal. As always, if you have any comments or ideas which may help us with this, if you think your child is the victim of bullying or even if you think your child may be bullying another, please come in and have a chat with Mrs Mugglestone, Mr Corbett or your child's class teacher.
