Information for Parents about Remote Learning
The Department for Education have launched a scheme which temporarily increases data allowances for mobile phone users on certain networks. This is so that children can access online learning at home. Please see the link below for more information on how to apply for this increase of data

DfE Expectations for Remote Learning
‘Schools are expected to consider how to continue to improve the quality of their existing offer and have a strong contingency plan in place for remote education provision by the end of September.’
This event will discuss and explain how the schools within the Trust have created a contingency plan and a home learning pack to allow them to support the staff, the parents and the children during periods of lockdown and remote online learning. There will time for questions and answers throughout the event as well as a final session at the end of the presentation.

Student Access to Microsoft Teams
Microsoft Teams is an online platform used by all schools at Discovery Schools Academy Trust, it allows remote collaboration and working between users. This service is already used widely amongst staff and we are now rolling this out to students to allow remote teaching.

Here are some key online learning resources and websites that we are using to support our home-learning during the current school closure.
Each one has a daily programme available to children in all year groups.
BBC BITESIZE - all subjects
You'll find daily lessons for homeschooling in Maths and English for every year group, as well as regular lessons in Science, History, Geography and more.

MATHS
In school we use White Rose maths and they have produced a scheme of work for each year group for use at home. These maths resources will also link to BBC Bitesize from May. To use the lessons:
- Click on the set of lessons for your child’s year group.
- Watch the video.
- Find a calm space where your child can work for about 20-30 minutes.
- Use the video guidance to support your child as they work through a lesson.

ENGLISH
Live 9:30am each weekday, @RadioBlogging broadcasts FREE LIVE English lessons packed full of interactive games/teaching including language games, creative writing and response reading. There’s a blog included for your children to submit their writing! There is also an opportunity to listen again and access previous shows if the live lesson was missed.
